Rosario Dawson and Lori Woodley Team up with Thrive Market to Help SoCal Fire Victims
Multiple fires have raged throughout Southern California for days now, destroying 1,000 structures and killing one person. Thousands have been displaced and many have lost everything.
In light of what’s happened, local businesses like Thrive Market are coming together to support the community and families who have been impacted. The healthy online grocer has launched a fundraiser helpfirefamilies.org with UpToUs, a non-profit organization founded by Rosario Dawson, and All It Takes, a foundation founded by Lori Woodley.
“I have close friends who lost their home in the Thomas Fire, and this was an obvious way to help those affected,” Dawson told The Voluntourist.
Almost $64,000 has been raised so far and 100% of donations will fund direct aid for individuals and families affected by the Thomas Fire in Ventura County. Donations will fund bulk-food deliveries to Food Banks serving families displaced by the fire, $500 food grants to families who lost their homes and support to firefighters who have risked their lives to help their communities.
“Families have lost everything and we knew that by partnering with Thrive Market, we would be able to help some of those basic needs be taken care of. We’re grateful for all of the donations that have been made thus far but know there is still a lot to be done,” Dawson added.
In addition Thrive Market has donated $35K to Food Share
· The brand will also donate $50K to support local efforts: o $35K to Food Share in Ventura County o $15K worth of $500 grocery credits to assist local families in Ventura County
