COUNTRY INFORMATION Located in South Asia, Nepal sits along the southern Himalayan mountain ranges. It is a landlocked country located between two major powers: India and China. As a result, Nepal has tried to remain largely neutral and isolated throughout its history. After years of monarchical rule and a violent insurgency, the country transitioned to a democratic republic in 2008. Despite some political changes, Nepal is one of the world’s least developed nations. However, the country has received economic assistance from various countries, such as the U.S., throughout the years. If you’ve volunteered in Nepal, we’d love to hear about your experience.
